Tigran Martirosyan

Tigran Martirosyan, founder of Xellence Tennis, was born in Yerevan, Armenia, where he began playing tennis at age 7.
A standout junior competitor, he won numerous tournaments across Armenia before moving to the United States at age 15 to further his training and compete on a national level.

Tigran attended Loyola Marymount University and made history as the first LMU tennis player to achieve a collegiate singles ranking. He later transferred to the University of Kentucky, where he earned All-American honors, finishing his senior year ranked #53 in NCAA singles and #3 in doubles.

After earning his MBA in Finance (2005–2007), Tigran pursued professional tennis full time. He reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of #361, with notable victories over top-100 players including Donald Young, Jan Hernych, Ryan Sweeting, Aleksandr Nedovyesov, and Michael Yani. His professional career highlights include winning two ITF Futures titles and multiple Men’s Open events.

In 2010, Tigran began coaching at the Westboro Tennis and Swim Club, quickly rising to lead the Tournament Training Program. After a decade of shaping top junior talent, he relocated to Los Angeles in 2020 and joined the Burbank Tennis Center, where Xellence Tennis was born.

Today, Xellence Tennis is proud to operate in partnership with Khachatryan Tennis Academy (KTA), offering the highest quality tennis instruction and the leading academy experience in the community. Through this collaboration, Tigran and his team empower athletes of all levels to train with purpose, discipline, and excellence.

Beyond the court, Tigran is a proud husband and father of four. He enjoys spending quality time with his family—especially hitting the courts with his kids. His experience as both a coach and a tennis dad brings a relatable, grounded perspective that resonates with players and parents alike.
